CBA: Yi Jianlian double double down Shandong 93-82

BEIJING, China (CBA): Yi Jianlian led the seven-time former champions Guangdong to a 93-82 win against Shandong in Game 2 of the 2012-13 CBA Finals, and a 2-0 lead in the best-of-seven titular contest.

Yi scored 22 of his 26 points and 9 of his 11 rebounds in the first half of the game.

There have been no team yet of overcome a 0-2 deficit in all 18 CBA Finals so far.

“We should never think about that (a 2-0 lead). If we take it for granted, such a detail may change the results. What we need to do is to have a good rest and fully prepare for the next game,” the 25-year-old said.

Nigerian Ike Diogu accounted for 23 points and 13 rebounds with American Donal Sloan adding 10 points.

Chinese international Wang Shipeng sank 3 of his 6 three-pointer attempts for his 14 points.

Wang Shipeng and Donald Sloan helped with 14 points and 10 points respectively.

“This is an important victory for us and has great impact on this series,” Guangdong coach Du Feng said.

“Both teams suffered several turnovers in the first half. Fortunately, we made adjustments at halftime, which took effect in the second half. This match can be regarded as the best one we ever played in series,” he added.

Jordanian star Zaid Abbas’ 22 points was the highest for Shandong, but only 6 of them coming in the first half. American Pooh Jeter was restricted to 13 points and Lebanese-American Jackson Vroman to only 11 points. Abbas and Vroman each had 7 rebounds.

Yanyuhang Ding added 15 points for Shandong with Sui Ran chipping in with a dozen points

“We've found our weakness through these two games. We will spare no efforts in the next game,” said Shandong coach Gong Xiaobin.
