ASEAN League Basketball Round 12

The game had a very big importance for second-ranked Indonesian Satria Muda as it allowed them to take a leadership position. Satria Muda defeated 4th ranked Thailand Thailand Slammers in Jakarta 83-72. The game was mostly controlled by Satria Muda. Thailand Slammers managed to win third quarter 19-14. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. The best player for the winners was American Chris Daniels (200-82, college: Georgia) who had a double-double by scoring 16 points and 13 rebounds. Filipino guard Jerick Canada (170) chipped in 19 points, 5 rebounds and 4 assists. At the other side the best for losing team was American power forward Christien Charles (216-81, college: Villanova) who recorded a double-double by scoring 30 points and 10 rebounds. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Satria Muda have a solid three-game winning streak. As mentioned above they are alone now at the top position. Thailand Slammers at the other side dropped to the fifth place with nine games lost. Thailand Slammers will play next round against Saigon Heat trying to get back on the winning streak. Satria Muda will try to continue on its current victory against sixth ranked Saigon Heat at home.

The game with biggest result difference took place in Singapore. Local Singapore Slingers (5-9) beat 6th ranked Vietnamese Saigon Heat (3-9) 91-77. It was a good game for American power forward Rashad Jones-Jennings (203-84, college: UALR) who led his team to a victory with a double-double by scoring 37 points (!!!) and 12 rebounds. Wei Long Wong contributed with 29 points and 6 rebounds for the winners. Singapore Slingers' coach allowed to play the deep bench players saving starting five for next games. American forward Dior Lowhorn (201-87, college: USF) replied with 34 points (!!!) and 7 rebounds for Saigon Heat. Singapore Slingers maintains fourth position with 5-9 record. Saigon Heat lost eighth consecutive game. They stay at the bottom place with nine games lost. Singapore Slingers will play against league's second-placed Petron Blaze in Manila in the next round and it may be the game of the week. Saigon Heat will play at home against Thailand Slammers (#5) in Bangkok and it may be a tough game between close rivals.

In the last game of round 12 bottom-ranked Saigon H. was defeated by KL Dragons in Kuala Lumpur 75-64.
